You are not making any sense, and why ask the same question four times?

Don't run the upgrade manager, since Ubuntu changed the repositories for the upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 upgrading gOS (based on 7.10) won't work and will totally demolish your installation! Just don't run it, it has been (should be) blocked.

Synaptics works self explanatory, so I don't understand what is so difficult about closing it, or applying changes.
