Thanks for the links! The Intro to gOS 2 is impressive. Too bad there isn't one for gOS 1
I appreciated the link to the Perfect Desktop 1.
Was unable to get the screenshot site to work on my laptop Vista but will try from the gOS Box later.
Did find Screen Shots for Gos 1 on that same site, but they didn't play either.
Bookmarked all and will keep working to get the screen shots working
Thanks for the input
Note for the OP -- Whether the Screenshots work or not the Intro provided by Mahjongg is probably as close to a manual as you are going to get except for a book on linux Ubuntu from o'Reilly or linux for Dummies :-)
Errrrr. NO!!! "basic-commands" are not for beginners, but for geeks that want to use the command line to become more efficient. Fortunately gOS has a (very nice) graphical interface, so even beginners can start using it immediately, perhaps they still need to use the command line terminal occasionally, but not often.
a better place to start would be here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/
or if you are really new to Linux you might find the short intro I wrote useful, which you can find here:
http://cafelinux.org/gosforum/index.php/topic,268.0.html
I wrote it when gOS 2.0_beta1 was new, (the enlightenment based version), but its also useable for a large degree as an introduction to later versions too, as it handles the basics, like booting the live CD etc.
You can buy a book on Ubuntu Linux at any bookstore but there are many sources of information on ubuntu online. The desktop is Enlightenment or E17 you might be able to google them.
